In 2018 Stanford Medical did a three-month study on Postural Therapy. The patients did NOT use any drug or surgical interventions. The study revealed a 41% reduction in pain in three months. By re-educating your body and reminding it where it used to be, pain goes down and activity goes up.

Thank you for your interest in Postural Therapy.

I would like to share with you some great points about postural therapy and how it can solve your chronic pain issues, keep you young, active, and moving, reduce stiff and sore joints while getting you stronger. Postural therapy started in the 70’s in California. It started with someone who was in chronic pain and couldn’t get any relief or help from the medical profession. Pete Egoscue was a former Marine who was in chronic pain. He tried many different doctors and modalities to alleviate his painful joints and muscles. His diagnosis was always the same, nothing wrong.

With a Grays anatomy book in hand, he began studying the joints and muscles of the human body. Before too long, he discovered when there are muscle imbalances, there are joint imbalances. What this leads to is realizing that posture is a big player in chronic pain. With the help of others, he began working with others chronic pain. He found that stretches and exercises could and would change posture and reduce chronic pain.

When you come to my office or I see you on Zoom, we always start with a gait assessment, four postural pictures and functional testing. The assessment reveals the imbalances. Your program design will be directed towards what showed up in the functional testing and gait assessment. Your program will be on the PTX app which you can easily access on your smart phone. Doing your program 5—7 days per week is going to change your current situation. You can expect to see improvement soon. Your joints and muscles will begin to move with ease, energy goes up and you can return to activities that previously caused you pain and dysfunction.

If you are not in chronic pain and interested in better posture and anti-aging this system will add a lot to your current lifestyle. For those who are currently working out and/or participating in sports, running, cycling, tennis, skiing, skating etc.  you will notice a difference in performance and strength. I have golfers who noticed a big change in their game from postural therapy.

Slowing down aging; the worst thing we can do as we age is to stop moving. This is when we need it the most. Reducing and changing stiff sore joints brings more light into your life. It’s so encouraging to move with ease and not have to worry about a bad knee or sore hip. In conclusion, make an appointment now for a postural assessment and let’s talk about a plan to improve your life with pain free movement.
