There are common questions people have before deciding to pursue the life changing journey of Postural Therapy. Here are some of them.

1. How is Postural Therapy different from Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy looks at the site of the symptom and treats the area of pain. Postural Therapy looks at the entire body and determines the root cause. Example is a sore knee that comes on with or without injury. Physical Therapy will begin working on the joint mechanics of the knee. Postural Therapy will look at all the other joints and muscles and find out why the knee hurts. The cause of the knee pain will more than likely be coming from the hips and how you move. By creating proper hip movement, the knee pain begins to change and starts to feel better. You will notice the pain decreases on the first appointment.

2. How is postural therapy different from Pilates or yoga?

Pilates and Yoga do not align the 8 loading joints. Postural Therapy looks to align the 8 loading joints (shoulders, hips, knees and ankles). When the 8 loading joints are balanced properly, pain goes down, and function goes up.

3. When can I work out?

Unless you are specifically recommended by your doctor not to exercise, you can begin exercise any time you choose.

4. Does insurance pay for Postural Therapy?

Insurance does not re-imburse Postural Therapy. However, if you have an HSA or company wellness program, they will often re-imburse for your expenses. If you have a prescription from your MD, DO, DC, PA or Nurse Practitioner your expenses will be tax deductable.

5. How long before I notice a difference in pain?

You will notice a difference on the first appointment. Clients will often say they feel more upright, looser, pain is less, and they feel like they can move easier.

6. How will I remember what exercises and stretches to do after my appointment?

Every appointment includes a pdf and video of all your exercises. You are sent a link for your program and can access on a PC, Laptop, Tablet or Phone. This assures you will remember each exercise and their specific order.

7. Can I break up my exercises and do throughout the day?

Your exercises are placed in a specific order (sequencing) according to your postural imbalances. Changing the order will change the results. It’s recommended to do in order. For optimum results do them together at a specific time of day.

8. How many appointments will I need to become pain free?

Every client is different. If you have chronic pain it takes time to unwind the compensations and dysfunctions. It’s like peeling an onion layer. It took time for you to get to this point, it will take time to change. You will notice a difference on the first appointment and that encourages clients to keep going and pursue becoming pain free.

9. Will I have to do my program every day?

It is recommended you do your exercises daily. Most clients agree daily sets the tempo for the rest of the day and feeling good.

10. Will I have to do my program for the rest of my life?

Most clients who use Postural Therapy choose to continue doing their exercises because they feel good and they wish to continue a pain free life. After doing them for some time, you will learn how many days per week is necessary to become pain free.

11. How long will I have to spend each day on my program?

Your program can be designed to fit with your scheduled time. In the beginning, it’s recommended to spend longer amounts of time to create a faster result. Later on you will find less time is needed to maintain your results.

12. Do you work with athletes? Yes, I have worked extensively with athletes and they found the programs greatly enhanced their abilities to perform their sport and reduce injuries.

13. What if I don’t have pain but would like a program to be proactive with my health? Yes, you will find the programs will enhance your health, you will feel better and be more productive.
